Anders Beal is the Founder and Managing Director of Vaiu Research & Analysis (VRA), a research collective dedicated to addressing the climate crisis and building partnerships across civil society, the private sector, and academia in the Global South. From 2016 to 2025, he worked in the Wilson Center’s Latin America Program, one of the top ranked think tanks worldwide in regional studies and international relations.
His research interests include natural resource governance and the environment, the transition to renewable energy and critical minerals supply chains, and the social and economic impacts of climate change in the Western Hemisphere. Anders has published in various outlets including The Hill, La Tercera, Global Americans, Americas Quarterly, and The National Interest, among others. Prior to the Wilson Center, he worked in other non-profit organizations and as a consultant. From 2013–2014 he served as Assistant to the Executive Secretary in the Chilean American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Chile), where he supported bilateral cooperation on energy issues through the U.S.-Chile Energy Business Council, an initiative proposed by presidents Obama and Piñera.
He holds an M.A. in Global Policy and B.A. in Spanish & Economics from the University of Maine. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Helsinki researching green industrial policy and geopolitical competition in Latin America, and also serves as a Non-Resident Fellow in the Latin America Program at the Stimson Center in Washington, D.C.
