Andrea Capurro has over a decade of experience advancing marine conservation and ocean governance at the science–policy interface. Her work focuses on evidence-based environmental protection, ecosystem-based management, and international cooperation in support of sustainable outcomes. She played a key role for Argentina in the proposal of a marine protected area (MPA) in the West Antarctic Peninsula under the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR). Andrea is an MPA Advisor at Agenda Antártica, a member of Leading Women for the Ocean, and the founder of Marova Consulting, advising on initiatives at the ocean–climate nexus for governments, nonprofits, and multilateral settings.
Andrea brings extensive experience in international collaboration, strategic program leadership, and translating scientific knowledge into policy and decision-making processes. She holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from the University of Buenos Aires and a master’s degree in environmental management from the Instituto Tecnológico Buenos Aires. As a Latina professional with global experience, she is committed to strengthening inclusive, equitable approaches to ocean governance and elevating diverse voices in environmental decision-making.
