Dr. Daniel Azevedo Muñoz is a Global Researcher for Vaiu Research & Analysis. Based in São Paulo, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo, where his work examines the international relations, diplomacy, and foreign image of Brazil during the transition from military dictatorship to the New Republic.
His approach is interdisciplinary, combining Communication and Media Studies with Contemporary History and drawing on media and oral history methods. He also works as a freelance journalist and podcast producer for Brazilian news organisations, covering international politics, diplomacy, and the historical dimensions of current geopolitical events.
He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Madrid, where his thesis was awarded cum laude honours for its contributions to the history of international relations. He also holds a master’s degree in Contemporary History from the same institution and a degree in Social Communication (Journalism) from the University of São Paulo. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
