Dr. Jiwon Nam is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Haverford College. Her research examines the intersection of global environmental politics, right-wing populism, and democratic backsliding. She also specializes in regional geopolitics, with a particular focus on U.S.– Korea relations and the evolving ties between South Korea and Central Asia.
An expert in quantitative text and content analysis, Dr. Nam has published in academic journals such as the Journal of Asian Security and International Affairs and Presidential Studies Quarterly. Her work spans East Asian political economy and innovative methodological approaches to political data. Prior to joining the Advisory Council of Vaiu Research & Analysis, her professional background has included policy and research roles with the United Nations, the Korea Economic Institute of America, and Mercy Corps.
